04 Feb: Being a Male Escort in Manchester

Being a Male Escort in Manchester

My name is Matthew Anderson Sunderland and I have been a male escort in Manchester for the past eight years. I opted for this profession after finishing my first year of BA in Accounting and Finance at University of Manchester back in 2010. During the summer holidays, I saw my friends working at restaurants as waiters or delivery boys and earning minimum wage. That was not an option for me for it was not enough to support my studies and I was did not have a war chest to fall back on.

After doing an in-depth study, I took a gamble and signed up with a male escort service. I still remember my first client. She was a junior executive at an advertising agency in her mid-20s. She needed my services as her plus one at a charity gala organized by her company. She wanted to make a good impression on her superiors and colleagues and wanted to show them that she has been able to strike a perfect work-life balance with a handsome boyfriend. We met an hour before the charity gala and came up with our cover story of how and where we met and covered each other’s likes and dislikes also. In making cover stories, I have always relied upon incorporating as much truth as possible. For my first client, I decided to portray myself as an accountant at a local manufacturing firm.

When I reached the gala with my date, I was nervous that someone may recognize me, or I would not be able to pull it off. However fate was kind to me that day and I was able to mingle well and aided my client in every way possible. At the end of the night, I received a heavy tip. I went to five more dates with this client as her boyfriend. It ended when she got into a proper relationship.

At first, I was worried that my university would find out about my secret life and this could have serious repercussions. However, during my remaining two years of studies, I was able to compartmentalize both aspects of my life perfectly. I was able to build a healthy clientele and when I completed my studies, I was at a crossroad. I had to decide whether I would continue as a male escort or take up a full-time job and say farewell to this profession.

At first, I decided to take up the second option. I was able to land a decent job as a business risk analyst at a bank. However, after six months, I decided that I missed my time being with different people three to four nights a week. Although, I was in a healthy relationship with my girlfriend, I found out that entertaining these people was an exhilarating experience. I got back in and my agency was kind enough to hire me back and even give me a pay bump.

Manchester is a great destination for male escorts. You get to meet a wide array of clients. I have even accompanied ladies in their 50s even. Some of my clients even have been widows who miss the companionship of a male partner, but are not confident enough to venture  out there yet. They want to meet someone who does not know them and can be their confidiate. Then there are some older ladies whose children have grown up and have their own families. Most of clients looking for a man, who could wine and dine them, and show them a nice evening.

Also I am an avid football fan and a supporter of Manchester City and luckily once a client took me to the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium in September 2013. Manchester City won that fixture 4-1. After the match, we went to Mary D’s Beamish bar for a celebratory drink. That is one gig I am going to remember for a long time.
